Remedial Massage

Remedial massage targets problematic areas of the body and can help with pain and dysfunction from chronic illness, sport and fitness training or sitting for long periods.

The healing powers of remedial massage

Keep active with less pain and injury

Are your neck and shoulders aching from constant pain? Do you struggle with arthritis? Remedial massage can help by targeting the specific dysfunction. As a therapist, first I look at your problem in relation to the big picture. This allows me to pinpoint which treatments will get results.

If you're an athlete or gym goer, or someone who has an active lifestyle, remedial massage could be the answer for you. It's also ideal if you have to sit for long periods of time in your work or daily life.

Is remedial massage painful?

Some people are afraid that remedial massage will be painful and involve a lot of hard pressure, but it doesn’t have to be. I use a combination of remedial and relaxation techniques to create the best massage for you.

What techniques do you use in remedial massage therapy?

Myofascial release helps lengthen, stretch and soften the fascia – the body’s connective tissue that holds the muscle, organs and bone together. For this technique I apply gentle, sustained pressure to the area.

Myofascial cupping is another effective way of releasing the fascia.

Trigger pointing focuses on areas within the fascia that are tight or sore. I use targeted pressure on the trigger points to help unlock knots and ease chronic pain and headaches. Trigger pointing can be momentarily painful but also incredibly relieving, especially when performed on a regular basis.

I also use remedial techniques during your sports massage or relaxation massage. Before your treatment I’ll talk to you about the areas you’d like to focus on and what you’d like to achieve from your massage. It’s about finding the right balance for you.
